Wahooooo, I'm back! I know it's been a while, almost
a month to be closer to being slightly more precise. It was Cuba time once
again, my very favourite slice of Caribbean fruitcake; the land of Castro,
revolutions, boxers, old cars, cigars and jam butties!
Things kicked off with a strange but fun old week spent cruising the beautiful
south from Santiago, de Cuba on a solo mission of discovery and bike riding,
a nasty local haircut and a little rum tasting, naturally.
Following this I joined an organised round Cuba bike trip with the guys from
Saddle Skedaddle (www.skedaddle.co.uk). Pedalling our way along the rugged
south coast we eventually headed northwards for the colonial town of Trinidad
for another bucket full of Cuba Libres, and some more salsa before skirting
the Bay of Pigs on our way back to Havana.
City bound for a few days, and I found myself riding along the famed Malacon,
racing old cars, riding side cars, rebel BMX'ng national monuments, and getting
sloshed with one of the greatest ever Cubans, and Boxers Mr Teofilo Stevenson,
quite a bizarre week all in all - oh, and I forgot a brush with the Buena
Vista Social club.
