Greetings from the far east! Well, its just over half
way through my first pilgrimage to Borneo and beyond for 2004. As usual things
have not exactly gone to plan so far, and look set to continue in that vain!
Lesson number one I learned this time was don't fly with the flu - especially
twice in one day; yup, landing was like a scene from Alien, as my ears and
throat jumped around leaving me deaf, sick and in incredible pain. Nine different
lots of pills and ten days holed up in a hotel in Sabah kinda saw me able
to move and hear again, needless to say this put me behind schedule some,
though it did get me a job modelling for the hotel brochure.
Following my usual round of encounters and experiences I made my way to the
south of Borneo, and to "cat city", or Kuching as we know it. My
mission was to go native for a few days to seek out remote jungle head hunting
tribes, and to see if rumours of the act still happening are true. Well, I
did find the real thing - much to everyone's surprise - but you'll need to
wait to see the story in Front magazine for the full low down.
Returning from the jungle I spent some time braking
my teeth and checking out the cats in cat city before heading west to mainland
Malaysia for a spell on Le Tour de Langkawi, which is where its at for now.

Next but one stop is Singapore, though with my current
luck I may not get there, so please stay tuned - either here or if there are
no more postings for a while to the BBC.
